So, I never back up my photos, it takes up too much space. Today I got a low space warning for my iCloud account and noticed Photo Library was being backed up. Is this a bug? My conspiracy theory is Apple turned this on itself so that it could try to sell me iCloud storage space... but that's likely not the case.

Anyone else have this happen?

I don't know why it would turn on automatically, but I hope you're backing up your photos using another method, like iTunes, because otherwise you will lose them if your phone dies, gets stolen, etc...

yeah I understand how that works... I use lightroom, smugmug, amazon photos. Things I already pay for.
