iHome power plug distance limit

Hello.

I do not have any Smart devices (yet) but I am interested.

I would like to get started with a iHome power plug (which would be in a detached garage) to turn on and off engine block heater in a car.

Currently I do not have WiFi signal in there. Does iHome plug connect via WiFi?

I do have a single ATV3.

The iHome plug definitely connects via WiFi. You'll need to have a WiFi signal to connect with it.
