iMac 2017 connect to BNC video

Hi all.

I'm a video artist working in theatre. Our current production is on tour and the technicians in the theatre next week have told me I'll need to be able to connect to their 2 projectors from my 2017 iMac via BNC cable.

In 15 years of this work I've never come across bnc. I guess it's because of the distance from the tech desk to the projects that they use it.

After a preliminary search for adapters I'm left more confused than when I started.
There just doesn't seem to be a simple (or cheap) answer.

So I've got my two Thunderbolt 3 outputs.
and...
I have a Matrox Dual head ME with two DVI-D outputs.
I have an adapter to VGA
and another adapter to HDMI/VGA

Since VGA cables can be 30m long I thought that this would be the answer. Any ideas??

Does it work with DVI-D, or only DVI-I?

The DVI-I connector contains analogue pins; those pins drive the simplest of DVI to VGA connectors. To save money, many DVI devices omit those pins.

BNC just specifies the connector used. but what signal will the projectors accept? SDI? analogue composite video? RGB video?

I have seen many commercial projectors with BNC connectors while on clients premisses.

Generally BNC has 5 plugs: RGB and horizontal and vertical sync. Although some only use RGB without the sync.

this adapter has SDI (digital) out only. so if the projectors have analogue RGB IN, it won't work...

You'll need to clarify with your techs whether SDI or RGBHV is needed.

RGB analogue uses minimum 3 and max. 5 BNC connectors to carry the signal.
SDI and analogue composite video on the other hand only use 1 BNC connector.
