This is an old question that have not been yet solve in the net.

I have an iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2009) -Sierra 10.12.6 and I would like to use as a display from my MacBook pro (retina 13-inch, late 2012)
I read all over that it is not possible (It have to be 27-inch or later 2014).

But... perhaps a good ruler's breaker have already done it ;)

I still thinking that maybe there is a way to do it. Does anyone know?

Although possible on the 27" model unfortunately the late 2009 21.5" iMac does not support Target Display Mode. This feature was not introduced on 21.5" iMacs until the mid 2011 release

Thanks for your fast reply.
I am worried about pollution that we create with technology, that is why that I still wonder if there is an external device or a any way to introduce the "Target Display Mode" inside of that system. (perhaps not an apple design)
