However...

1) It's damned tricky to do.
2) You'd need Mac specific cards which work with your model. There aren't that many of them about and the performance boosts will be negligible, as the best GPUs you can fit are the 6-series AMDs that came in the 2011 iMacs.
3) Could be expensive, depending on prices in the used market.
