Help please!

I have a 2017 iMac with a single 500GB SSD.

For some reason while trying to install a fresh version of Mojave, Disk Utilities is showing that there are two SSD discs of identical size?!

I know there is only one but how do I format/erase everything so it’s just one drive again? I tried multiple things like extending the partition and erasing etc but it always ends up with it either not erasing and throwing up an error or not giving me one 500gb partition. I understand that there will be a small but used up by internet recovery though. Also how I get from the selected disk over to the partition/erase section as at the moment now I can only cycle through the volumes?!

Photos attached on messy volumes.

Also, it would be very handy if I could get the Magic Mouse 2 to connect via Bluetooth as it’s a pain trying to use the keyboard, does anyhow know how to pair the bloody mouse while in the recovery section? I have tried tuning off the mouse, turning it’s back on. Plugging in via usb etc etc. Nothing is getting it to work. It connects fine to my Raspberry Pi which I have now turned off to stop any conflicts but any help would be great.

Thanks

Your iMac was originally launched with Sierra (macOS 10.12). Somehow you are launching Sierra Disk Utility v16.3 (DU) which can't properly handle APFS volumes (High Sierra and Mojave DU will work with APFS).

Here is DU display for Sierra (what your pictures show):

Here is DU for Mojave:

See the differences?

You need to use a Disk Utility for High Sierra or Mojave (v18.0) in order to properly manipulate and display APFS volume configurations.

I can't help you with Magic Mouse 2 connectivity while in Recovery except to suggest using a wired mouse to accomplish the task you want.

Thank you very much but I managed to sort it out in the end using a combination of voiceover and terminal.

Cheers
