I have an iMac 27, late 2012.
Works perfectly, but after update to catalina, the safari & mail font is disturbed. (see on image)

Further the iMac works perfectly, just the view is not what it has to be.

I reïnstalled allready a new installation of Mojave, than there is no problem.
I allready reïnstalled on new disk a clean install of catalina, but directly same problem (in Safari & Mail, in other apps everything ok).

Anyone has an idea what the solution is?

thx

The solution is to re-enable font anti-aliasing.

RE-enable subpixel antialiasing for non-retina displays:
defaults write -g CGFontRenderingFontSmoothingDisabled -bool NO

Then log out and log back in. You must do this with every change you make below.

Enable subpixel antialiasing smoothing:

Light font smoothing:
defaults -currentHost write -globalDomain AppleFontSmoothing -int 1

Medium font smoothing:
defaults -currentHost write -globalDomain AppleFontSmoothing -int 2

Heavy font smoothing:
defaults -currentHost write -globalDomain AppleFontSmoothing -int 3

NO font smoothing:
defaults -currentHost write -globalDomain AppleFontSmoothing -int 0

Try EVERY ONE of these settings, to find the one you prefer.

That screenshot may show font smoothing issues, but what about the corrupted characters?
The screenshot shows 2 "good" characters, then a corrupted character, then 3 good characters, then one corrupted character.
I have never seen that odd 2 good, 1bad, 3 good, 1 bad - repeating as a sequence continually...
Isn't that more than just font smoothing?

thx for the answer, but it wasn't the righ solution.

I tested all the smoothing lines , everytime logged out etc, but same issue.
