So the iMac Pro was unveiled yesterday, and now I'm a bit confused.

The official headline reads "the most powerful Mac ever".

The specifications are formidable. 18 cores, up to 4.5GHz, 128gigs of RAM(?) and a new Radeon GPU that has its' own name.

So is it really the most powerful Mac ever, going up against a maxed out Mac Pro?

And another question on my mind, is if I bought a top of the line iMac Pro and a decent Mac Pro with 18 cores, 128 gigs of memory and a comparable Radeon GPU, which machine would cost more?

Yes, more powerful than a maxed Mac Pro. If they had the same specs on the Mac Pro, the Mac Pro would be cheaper due to no display and likely larger enclosure.
