i'd picture a 60, 80, 120 GB HD line, with the RAM being 256, 512, 512.

i really dont see Apple maxing out the RAM as a base config.

Why doesn't anybody ever mention the superdrive when talking about imac upgrades? An 8X4X24 Cd burner is slow. I've had a 16X10X40 for almost 2 years now in my peecee. Apple needs to upgrade this drive quickly. Just my two cents.

Hmm. I'm actually impressed with the fact that Apple is totally ditching the 15" monitor so soon. It seems to me that they should keep a lower end model (one that could sell for under $999) at least until after the holidays- It'd be perfect for a gift- esp. with that Dell all in one piece of garbage on the market. Apple'd sell loads of 'em. Casual users don't really need a bigger monitor and it seems that's who Apple is after with their "switch" commercials.
Honestly, I can't wait until that 19" model comes out (as I'm not a casual user! )

Unless theyr'e not having widescreens I would assume that the base model will come with a Combo drive like the emac
