iMessage setting for notification of name mention won't stay selected past application quit

Hey guys,
I've run into a real annoying bug I've had in the past, and never really knew what causes it.

When selecting "Notify Me when my name is mentioned" in iMessages preferences gets unchecked after the program is quit, so I have to reset it each time.

I've completely removed all settings and caches for iMessages from my user, and rebooted, however that doesn't seem to fix the issue.

I was curious if anyone else has had this issue, and have it can be resolved.

OS MacOS Mojave, 10.14, iMac late 2015, 27" 5K.
By the way this issue isn't specific to Mojave, I've had it a few years ago. It just happened to resurface now.
