iPod touch Importing and playing WAV and FLAC files on IPod Touch

I'm interested in buying an IPod Touch so I can play my music over my car stereo. What's holding me back is that I want to know:

1. Whether the IPod Touch plays WAV and FLAC files,
2. How to import files from my PC to the IPod Touch without using ITunes
