indexing hd

I was just playing around with the 'get info' properties of my main hd and saw an option 'content index' and an 'index now' button, I clicked and let it work, however this was going very very slow! And it's only an 18GB disk.

I was wondering what benefits does this provide? Has any one done this yet?

(By the speed that it was going I think it would take 2 days to do this.)

Well I'll try it with you and I would assume that it would speed up the live searching which for me is a little slow on my 4200rpm laptop drive so I'm glad you pointed this out. We can be the first to test this and give reviews etc (and possibly crash our nice shiney new panther OS).
