A friend just gave me his iPhone 3GS. I need at least iOS 7 to run shazam and/or soundhound (why?!) but iOS 7 does not run on the 3GS. As such I rooted my 3GS, downloaded some older Shazam/Soundhound IPAs that supposedly work on iOS 6, and installed them. They successfuly install, but when I try to run them they just crash after displaying the Shazam/Soundhound logo.

Is there a way to get an older version of Shazam/Soundhound running on the iPhone 3GS?

EDIT: I suppose I should note what I've tried

* Install latest version through AppStore (with and without jailbreak)
-> AppStore tells me I need to update

* Install latest version through iTunes (with and without jailbreak)
-> iTunes tells me I need to update

* Install older versions through iTunes (with and without jailbreak)
-> Some error during installation

* Install latest and older versions through IPA Installer (with jailbreak, must use "force install" with latest version)
-> Apps install but they immediately quit after launching them

* Change iOS version and Build Version in /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist to that of a newer iphones, and try installing through AppStore and iTunes
-> Still get message saying that I need to update
