It is very frustrating to not be able to switch on DX12 in some games, e.g. Rise of the Tomb Raider, due to the ancient AMD drivers for Bootcamp.
I've tried various methods from various sites to do this, but never succeed.
Does anyone have a method that actually works for the R9 395X GPU?

There's a very involved way of disabling the current drivers, signing some thing then finally getting AMD drivers installed.

https://www.mxdriver.com/tag/boot-camp/

It's mixed bags. Personally when I tried, I actually didn't see much improvements and to some extent worse performance depending on the game.

Thanks for that. I saw that one before, and it looks like a nightmare with all the certificate stuff.
It's the lack of DX12 that is frustrating!

You gotta be careful installing these Crimson Drivers.

My PC Gaming Rig said I had the option to upgrade to the latest, I did, then my games and desktop stopped working in anything above 1080p...

At least I had downloaded the one previous and I went back to that one - back to 1440p and 4K gaming goodness...

It is hard to be spoiled at gaming above 1080p...

:)

Doesn't the system automatically kick in DX11/12? I can't remember >.<
Yes, you're right! I just tried 3DMark in DX12. It's obviously a bug in ROTTR, which after following it up, I saw that many people had the same issue (black screen when selecting DX12) soon after release. However, this was solved by driver updates from AMD and NVidia, which inevitably goes back to my original point!

OK, unfortunately, there is a similar bug with Deus Ex: Mankind. Selecting the DX12 option just brings up some 'driver resources' error.
As with ROTTR though, Deus Ex works nicely in DX11. I'm running it comfortably in Very High settings at 2560x1440.
When are we going to get a driver update from Apple/AMD?

Excellent news guys. Go to www.bootcampdrivers.com and install the latest Crimson 16.11.4 drivers for your Mac!
Works a treat with no messing around with editing files, signing drivers, etc. etc.
I am now able to play ROTTR and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided in DX12!
I made a donation to this guy as the work he has done is outstanding. Everyone should support his efforts.

'Fidgeting with Google drive'? I don't understand!

Simply couldn't get Google Drive to download anything. Finally worked it out, but alas it didn't help with the MBP vs. WoW. Still need to try some other games to make sure it's just one game. Or, I'll stick with the iMac that runs everything better than the MBP. =P

Did the drivers install OK? Show up in Device Manager OK? If so, then it must be a game specific thing. As I'm sure you know, these are the latest 16.11.4 drivers from AMD.

May I know if you are running this game on a Retina Macbook Pro?

Of course. It's just a bad gpu all around;) Like I said, I'll have to try other games to see if the issue persists all around or if it's just WoW that is too taxing.

Incidentally, my 3DMark scores went up by almost 35% using this driver compared to the standard Bootcamp ones!
