1 - DO A LOCAL (encrypted) iTunes BACKUP BEFORE YOU INSTALL!!!
2 - Turn OFF iCloud backup BEFORE you install!!!

There were many, many issues with iOS 9 and iCloud backups being corrupted and unable to restore once your backup was brought forward. Do these two steps before you install iOS 10 B1. You will thank yourself later.

This gives you a fall back for any reason you decide to bail.

Also if you use iCloud Photo Library, make sure you have a fully complete (NON-OPTIMIZED) copy of your library on your Mac before you upgrade, and make an archive copy of it.

This ensures that if the beta somehow screws up your photo library, you have a complete backup.

This is EXTREMELY important; remember that if iCloud Photo Library is on, your photos are NOT in the normal backup of your device.

In fact you may feel safer turning off iCloud Photo Library before trying the beta; I know I don't plan to turn it on for my test device.
