The issue: putting ripped music onto your iPhone and turning on iCloud Music Library will mess up your cover art, even if you've embedded the art. It's like iTunes calls back to Apple and decides to use cover art that may or not be applicable to the actual album, or even the tags. Sometimes it will be for the correct artist but a random album/picture, other times it's completely wrong.

Can anyone test this on an iPhone running iOS 12 beta? Just drop a few albums that your ripped onto your iPhone, turn on iCML, and see if your art holds up.
