Hello,
i am a student from Germany, which has created an iOS App for a small company. I have used the Firebase SDK for user authentication and an UIWebView to display an PDF file via HTTPS.

We never have distributed the App in the App Store. My boss and I have only used TestFlight to test the app on our devices.

Must we send an Annual Self Classification Report?
Which ECCN is this?

Thank you for your help!

Short answer: No.

https use is exempt from the strictest regulations. I've worked at big companies where our apps used https and were distributed on the app store. We never filed anything with the govt regarding encryption.

IANAL

Thank you for your answer! Before you start testing though TestFlight, you will get an message by Apple that an Annual Self Classification Report is necessary.

Yes I know. For the apps I've worked on we always choose Yes, our app is exempt (it only uses https) and then Start Internal Testing. The companies I've worked for have never filed the mentioned report. That's over a period of over five years.
