Strictly regarding music playing performance, if I have an iPhone 7 that can be used as a music player, is there any benefit to buying a new iPod touch? Is there a difference between the two as far as ability/sound quality (or do they utilize the same tech for audio output)?

Thank you al in advance for your thoughts.

Well, the iPod touch (2019) still has a headphone jack in addition to the lightning port. So you won’t need an adapter to connect it to other analog audio equipment.

It runs the same generation A10 processor as the iPhone 7 (2016) but clocked slower (and probably runs cooler) but that will have no effect on sound/video output.

The iPhone 7 cameras are a little better compared to the iPod.
