iPad mini iPad mini black Smart Cover really dark gray?

So, I'm a little confused. I had an older Apple iPad mini Smart Cover in black that I bought at Walmart that is a true, deep black front and back. Today, I received what is supposed to be a black Apple iPad mini Smart Cover from Amazon (shipped and sold directly from Amazon, mind you) and it is a dark gray on the outside and a bit lighter gray on the inside. Is one of these possibly a counterfeit, or has Apple changed the color of their black iPad mini Smart Cover over the past few months? If anyone else has one, what which would you say yours most resembles? I can't take photos of the darker Walmart-purchased cover because I've already given it away.
