On the older iPad they had the home button to press to wake the tablet from sleep as an alternative from pressing the power button on top.

How do you do this now without the home button without having to press the power button at the top every time?

Not using a keyboard. Double tap, very cool. Thanks!

Are these the only two options?

Yup, the only options for waking 2018 iPad Pros are tapping the screen once with a finger or Pencil. Pressing the power button, or double pressing the space bar on a keyboard.

But who knows what the future will hold. Raise to wake is technically possible, it has the required hardware, so who knows.
