I did the T-mobile deal for the iPad - $10 for 5G of data (to be used within 5 months).

I see that I have the free 250M/month.
And they charged my credit card $10.
But when I check, it still says "Status: Pending".

Calling T-mobile didn't work since the rep didn't know anything about it.
When I went to the store, they called it in and the answer was "once you use the free 250M, then the 5G will start to kick in and it won't show as "pending" anymore".

That didn't really make sense to me, since I would expect that the plan would show "approved" or something, especially since they did charge my card.

Has anyone run into this?

Thanks

Yeah, it'll change to 5 GB once you use 200 MB. They probably assume that if you want 5 GB, you will probably go through 200 MB pretty quickly.

With T-Mobile, the way it works is the data pack that expires the soonest is the pack you draw on first. In this case, the 200MB is the active data allotment. Use 200MB, and that 5GB pack will become active and you'll begin to draw from that. Until next month when another 200MB pack becomes active... then you'll draw from that until it's used up, and the remaining part of the 5GB pack will resume.

Yeah, I had the same questions, and Twitter TMobile didn't have any answers either.

I got the answers from these forums, which is essentially what scaredpoet said :)

I just put a new rMini on T-Mobile and I didn't see an option for 5GB of data for $10 (5 months). How did you get that option ?

I don't see it either? I got the 200MB free but no mention of a 5GB pack.

Edit: I see it now. Go into cellular data and click on add a new plan and it is there.

I go to on demand passes and I see
1 day 500MB $5
7 day 1GB $10
30 day 3GB $30
30 day 5GB $40
30 day 7GB $50

recurring plans (monthly)
1GB $10
3GB $20
5GB $30
7GB $50
9GB $60
11GB $70
13GB $80

I didn't see anywhere the 5GB $10 (5 month).

Is this a Mini 2 or Mini 3? The 5GB/5 Months promotion seems to be only available on the Mini 3 and Air 2 (or perhaps it's tied to using an Apple SIM). The fineprint says "available on select devices".

It's a Mini 2 so maybe you are correct. Has anyone been able to get the $10 5GB (5 months) plan on a Mini 2 ?

bummer...I didn't think the word "exclusive" really meant exclusive.

I will check later to see if I can access this on my kid's Air 1 - there is no data plan yet on that device...

Edit:

If this promo is related to the Apple SIM, do you know if you can use that Apple SIM in an iPad Air (the original, not the 2?)

It is not 5G of data but 5 GB of data.

They way the subject line looks like, I though that T-Mobile is getting 5G cellular service or something like that.

I think you're right. It is available on my air 2 but not on my iPad 4.

I've got a Mini 3 and I get the 5GB for free as I was initially getting 1GB free until 2015. I don't know how long the 5GB promo will last though. As soon as it expires, I'll likely pay extra to have it back.

My mouth says, "wow" but my brain says, "how?"

How did you get your free 1 GB plan up-ed to 5 GB?

I have the 1 GB with 200 MB/month for life plan on my iPad.

I was on the promo of 1GB free until 2015. So they upped it to 5GB in this match your data promo. I didn't actually know about it either until I went to put my new Mini on my tablet line. That's when the lady explained that I'll get 5GB free.

Cool...I just checked as well, but didn't make the switch. So the $10 credit gets applied to the 5 GB plan as well? It's not clearly stated as such in the text (see attached).

Mine did. I'd put the plan on at a store though, so I'm not sure how making the switch through the website would work. I am pretty sure it would still apply but perhaps call first?

I just did it online. I think it does work out to free! The 1 GB promo plan was notmally $20 and discounted to $10. T-Mobile also gives a $10 discount to any of the data plans as long as you have a voice plan. So net-net, this bump to 5GB/mo is the same price (free)! I almost never use the data on the iPad, but do on rare occasions. Might as well have that allowance since it doesn't cost anything. Thanks!

Awesome deal right? I think I read that we get enjoy it for 12 months after promo ends too. That'll be great if they do that for us current customers. Since I got this free 5GB data, I've been taking my iPad everywhere with me.

Interestingly, it's available on my iPad Air 2 even when I insert the prepaid T-Mobile SIM card from my old iPad Mini 2 that I sold last week.

Is it possible to stack the $10 offers? I don't think it will allow you to buy 3 and use it for 15 months, but is it possible to buy 3 and have 15GB data for 15 months? Because it gives me the option of purchasing the data plan again even though I already bought a pass.
