iPadOS 17.1(.1) - can’t upload photos in Safari

At first I thought this was maybe a site-specific problem, but it appears to be possibly an iPad OS bug as it’s all websites.

If you go to upload media and choose Library, after selecting Photos nothing seems to happen. Just me? Bug?
