Mom’s phone had a drop that didn’t damage anything externally (had a solid case on) but really seemed to do a number on internals: froze the screen, touchscreen unresponsive, etc. When I took to Genius Bar, they couldn’t perform a restore but did offer replacement device for $400. Should I take that offer and utilize for trade in value with a carrier like AT&T, or does anyone have experience restoring/updating this model phone from error 9? Thanks in advance!

A new 13 mini (128gb) is $599 from Apple directly. I'm sure you could find a better deal than getting a refurbished 12 mini for $400 either used or through a 3rd party seller
