I purchased my iPhone 13 Pro Max in late September. It is now mid December and the phone is beginning to have an odd speaker issue. The front speaker, (the one where the notch is located), is crackling. It only does this at higher volume. I noticed this last night, which raises the question of whether this is an issue with the device or the software. I say this because I updated my phone to iOS 15.2 last night. What do you guys think? ?

Hard to tell. You could revert back to 15.1.1 to see if the crackling is gone. 15.1.1 is still being signed but not sure for how long
Go here: https://ipsw.me/ and choose the 15.1.1 file for your device.
Then plug your phone into your Mac and enter iTunes or Finder (depending on what version of MacOS your using) and follow the directions in this link for "Restore using IPSW"
