Once I heard "Our partners - and Apple" will offer up to $1000.00 trade in for qualifying phones, I knew there was a catch!

I always PAY IN FULL for my iPhones, just own it and not worry about it.
This time, trade in iPhone 12 Pro Max, 256GB....for the 13 pro Max 256GB, pay in full...it's $409.00 trade in
(that's it!!?? And what an odd number)

BUT...select through Verizon (which I've done in the past), now you pay monthly for 30 months. (*assume theres a catch w/ this also...I'll have to upgrade my plan to Unlimited or something more expensive I don't need)
-- then I'll get the max trade in of $790.00.

30 months? With probably...finally(?) a big design upgrade in 12 months?

Am I understanding this correctly?
All this hoop-jumping, totally lame IMO.

You did what they were hoping you wouldn't: you read the fine print.
My ears perked up when I heard "1000.00 trade in!"
Then thinking, well My 12 ProMax should get 700, 800-MAYBE 850?

Then...rational thinking kicked in (rare for me sometimes LOL).
This sounds way too good to be true...which is always the case. Has to be a catch.
Yep.

With that being said...are you upgrading this year? : )

It's all about the razzle dazzle to get people confused. Always beware of the Deal
Seriously, they're coming off like shady used car salesmen now!
My 12 PM battery is just trash...so yeah. Maybe a new phone, nice price...bigger battery would make me happy...for a few days.

I was actually a little excited with rumors of a jet black matte phone..that didn't happen.

So I'll stick with this 12pm, get a new battery...hope that lasts for more than 7-8 months and save a ton of money for (switching to Geico) - kidding....for something cooler.

You've misunderstood the trade in value. There's the same $790 trade-in value offer for both the pay in full or the pay monthly option. The $409 you mentioned is the price you'll pay after the trade-in is discounted and is not the trade-in value itself (i.e. $1,199-$790 = $409)

Not on my end.
If I choose "PAY IN FULL," then it's $409 trade in for my 12 Pro Max
Choose this 30 month Verizon payment nonsense, then $790 trade in.

I don't know why you're making this hard on yourself. And I can't believe I read through this thread. Just choose the Apple Card (or Citizen Bank) monthly option. Or wait until next year.

Just trade your phone into decluttr. Prices might be a little different now, since I locked mine in before the new phones were announced, but I’m getting $837 for my 12pm 128gb through them. You get an additional 10% if your a new member.

I'm confused. If you Pay In Full each year, just get the Unlocked/Choose my Carrier later option. You'll pay the total up front, but get the trade-in as a credit after the phone is sent back in. Have it on your own CC and pay it as you like.

Carriers are tricky. I got off that ride last year. I'm not getting back on it.

This is saying $409 is the final price, not the trade-in value. The trade-in value is $790 bringing the remaining balance owed by you down to $409.
Oh..For the love of...., yeah.

Ok I feel insanely stupid now (My brain KEPT reading $409 "trade in." As in my 12 PM has a $409...oh forget it. Ugh) Pretty clear, the 3-4 hours of sleep the past 4 nights has absolutely messed with my head.

Just shoot me. ??

----ok, well I know I'm not insane on this.
The price after the trade in went up to $559.00, same config as my above post.
13PM, 256GB

It's NOT $409.00 anymore.

Well if anyone locked in that 409.00 price...hope Apple honors it.

Please be kind, I’m confused.
I’ve been making Apple Card payments for my 12PM, my balance is $561.(have apple care on this one)
I’ve been preapproved for the 13PM and see the new balance is $409. (No Apple care selected on this one)
Trade in credit was 790.
I selected sim free to connect to carrier later so it shouldn’t be associating that T-mobile offer…
what am I missing because I find it hard to believe Apple is going to swap my phone for a new one and leave me with a balance that’s basically the same as I financed a year ago come November.
