Ok, so 14 Pros this year have amazing sensor with 48 MP that shoots RAW. Everything is cool about it and it is way above the 13 Pro models in the photo and video regard.

Issues so far: quad bayer pixel grouping is obvious by looking at artifacts - especially if you shoot LCD screens. But bigger one is that we have f-stop larger than previous 13 Pros, meaning that the lens/optics is worse than previous year. Sensor size makes up for it a little bit.

Predictions for 15 Pro: it looks like apple really cheap-skated this year on lenses by making them darker. When looking at close-up RAWs, they are dark, blurred and soft, bad fringe on the edge. New Samsung S23 has a lot more clear lens according to gsmarena testing tool.

So I think 15 Pro would up the game with the lens this year by maybe making it again F1.5.

Example below just for fun: 48 MP RAW (left) vs 12 MP regular photo (right).

Looking at your sample photos, the 12mp properly used quad-pixel binning for more light exposure and contrast. There is supposed to be more contrast-detail in 12mp mode.

The RAW 48mp shots have less exposure, so contrast and white point will be more limited and darker, but sharper around the subject.

Apple definitely didn’t cheapskate the lens, but instead made more flexible, yet explicit for the type of shots taken.

The iPhone 13 Pro will be a better all around camera to just pick up and shoot; the 14 Pro’s are certainly improved, but a little more complex and difficult to master.

Even when posted in this forum you can easily see the difference if you zoom in on the photos. The 12mp images pixelate pretty quickly while the 48mp images stand up to zoom much better.
