The WiFi speeds on my iPhone 15 Pro are really poor. My prior iPhone 13 Pro consistently achieved speeds above 400 Mbps. My MacBook Air in the same location as the iPhone records speeds of 690 Mbps download. My iPad Air in the same as the iPhone location gets 200+ Mbps download speed. My iPhone 15 Pro struggles to exceed 80 Mbps. Exact same router, same location, same WiFi network, same load (very little) from other devices. Resetting the network connections in the iPhone does not help.

There are two things you can try…

1. Turn off Private IP address.

2. Is you have a dual band router, separate the 2ghz frequency and the 5ghz one and test both of them separately.

Here’s what I’m pulling from my 15PM on my wifi at home network. Should be no difference for your model.

I have got a 250/250 Mbit connection at home and that is what I get with my iPhone 15 PM.

2.4Ghz still has very slow speeds. 5Ghz does not even work on running the Speedtest app.

It is not my router as my wife's iPhone works well on WiFi, both iPads work well on WiFi, the MacBook Air works fine on WiFi. The slow speeds are exclusive to the iPhone 15.

I also had issues on another network at a friend's house. Very slow speeds, iPhone only. All other devices were fine.

There may be some quirky setting in the WiFi settings of the router (ASUS AiMesh) that is affecting the iPhone. I have only changed the SSID and the password. All the other items are factory defaults.

Sounds like you might have a bad phone. I have a iPhone 15 non pro. Here’s my results on a 500/20 plan.

No complaints here. My speedtest shows 620 Mbps download from about 40 feet from my router, which is probably limited by my 500 Mbps plan from the ISP.

I got 1.2Gbps WiFi speed on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. And I tested this from my bedroom covering a big distance and many devices on the same home network.

Is fast enough for a phone to be honest.

Interesting 🧐 🤔 I have not experienced this. You may want to contact Apple Support or Genius Bar.

i only have internet that goes up to ~280Mb/s but my 15 pro max has no issues reaching that. my router is an asus ax86u (wifi 6).

i know this is about wifi but my 15 pro max can hit ~500Mb/s over 5G. my 12 Pro Max could only do about 400Mb/s. I always check 5G speeds at the same tower when walking home from work. maybe it was a fluke but 5G speeds definitely seem faster. I wish i could get 500MB/s internet at home. well i could but it's bloody extortionate.

Here is more information on this weird saga with WiFi speeds.

Yesterday when I had issues, the tests on the MacBook, iPad and iPhone were done in the same location just minutes apart. The tests were done multiple times with effectively the same results. The iPhone struggled to get above 100 Mbps while the other devices happily cruised at speeds above 500 Mbps.

That indicates it is not an ISP problem. Nor is it a problem with the WiFi as far as the other devices are concerned. There may be some oddball setting that affects only the iPhone (160 MHz channel width on the 5G band?). I did reboot the entire AIMesh network, more than once just to eliminate the possibilities of a network reboot issue last night.

Today, I decided to remove the 160 MHz channel width from the 5G channels without changing anything else. The iPhone speed is back above 500 MHz. About the same as the other Apple devices on the network.

I then turned on the 160 MHz channel width, rebooted the network, forgot the WiFi network on the phone, and reconnected. Speeds were again down into the sub 100 Mbps range, sometimes dismally slow.

I turned off the 160 MHz channel width, rebooted the network, forgot the WiFi network on the phone, and reconnected. Speeds were back up to 500 Mbps +, about what I was getting earlier.

It would seem that the use of the 160 MHz channel width is causing the problem on the 5G WiFi network side. I also wonder if the Speedtest servers are playing some role as the iPhone 15 is being identified by the Speedtest app as being an iPhone 16.

Regardless, for those experiencing slow speeds on WiFi with iPhone 15, consider removing the 160 MHz channel width from the 5G network. While not an ideal solution it does seem to work. Apple borked something in the IOS 17.1 (Beta) update or borked something in the iPhone with IOS 17. Apple needs to fix the problem.

It must be some kind of chipset compatibility issue between whatever new chip the iPhone is now using and whatever is in your router... my Eero mesh is running 160mhz channels, and I'm not seeing this behavior.

Silly question. Are you running on the 2.4 GHz or the 5 GHz channel for your WiFi? The 160 MHz channel width is only available on the 5 GHz portion.

My router is running in dual mode. The 5G and 2.4G are running under the same SSID. The device and the router negotiate which band they are going to use.

The router is an ASUS with updated firmware. The router is a RT-AX86U with the two access points that are part of the AIMesh network being RT-AC68U and RT-AC68W (difference is the color, U is black, W is white).

tested on multiple routers in multiple locations
I have had issues on two other networks at friend's homes. I have no idea if they are using the 160 MHz channel. One is using Xfinity WiFi router, the other using a Spectrum router. I highly doubt they changed anything beyond the SSID, if they even made that change.

Same here... your setup is probably more configurable, but I don't think the Eero system gives me any choice :), it always runs with 5ghz and 2.4ghz combined. But I can indeed see that my iPhone is connected to the 5ghz band.

Changed my 5G Channel to 161 to test. 160 wasn't available. No change in speed (~776 Mbps) from when was on channel 149. NetGear RAXE500. Does the ASUS allow you to create separate SSIDS for the 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies? Are there a lot of users on that channel (WiFi Explorer)?

You need to change the Channel Width (20/40/80/160Mhz), not the Channel. Two different things.
