I have Verizon and lately it coverage has gotten worse. Some areas there is no reception for calls and no data. Is there a way to have a 2nd data account through a different carrier (2nd e-sim) that I can use for calls and data using my Verizon number? I might consider just switching but in the past the other carriers were no better. I am in Florida.

No. Unless you port your Verizon number to the other carriers service, closing that particular Verizon line. However, you can have two phone numbers, your current Verizon number and a number on the other carrier via the e-sim.
