I recently, over the past few weeks, conducted many experiments on the iPhone 4's battery life. It was pretty awful. I was getting around 5 hours. I did multiple things including turning off iCloud, resetting the network settings, and completing multiple charge cycles. I get near 11 hours now.

Short form for if you don't want to visit the link: turn off EVERY iCloud feature, complete a charge cycle, reset network settings, and complete another one. Your battery should be noticeably better.
