Phones iPhone 4S or Android

My wife needs a new phone. She's been using a flip phone for years I've been thinking of getting her a new iPhone 4S for $99. She has no need for 4LTE. I have an iPhone 5. But I'm also considering getting her a "$100" Android phone. Any suggestions on the latter?

4s would be an incredible first smartphone IMO. Go for that.

Might be worth giving a Windows Phone 8 phone a look too. The new 8x and Lumias look great.

GS3 would be a good start. I think there is going to be good deals on all sorts of Android phones of the thanksgiving holidays!

4S is really quite advanced for the average person. I wouldn't get android unless you want higher end like the Galaxy S3 or the like.
