I just saw a picture where it said that in order for you to continue using your iPhone 5, you need to update it to 10.3.4 by tomorrow, otherwise you will have to back it up and restore using iTunes.

Does that mean that you can no longer run iOS 6 on iPhone 5?

I’m glad Apple is finally clamping down on these zombie old OS versions. The development community is thankful. Businesses don’t get the point that technology has to move on.

Sure is a good thing. I myself have never used iOS 6 and was hoping to find a deal on the sexiest looking iPhone (5) with that version, but I guess I have to look for an older device if I want to see iOS 6.

I’m assuming if you have latest version iOS on iPhone 5 (12.3.1) there is no worry and you dont need to do an update? the update is for people who haven’t been updating their iPhone 5. They need to get to at least version 10.3.4. is this correct?

thanks,

iPhone 5 is only supported up to iOS 10, so the latest one is 10.3.4

Strange. I use an 8 and keep a 5 for some uses so it’s a backup. If I go into setting my software version it shows my software version as 12.3.1. It’s a 5SE if that makes a diff. Thanks for the help. I’m Not a techie.

Yeah, you have the iPhone SE which was released after 6s so you actually can get the latest iOS 13
Or perhaps you mean the 5S, which is only supported up to iOS 12

Normally I'm with you, but right now I'm shaking my iPhone 4 on iOS 7, my 4s on iOS 9 and my 6s/6s+ on iOS 9 at you. ;)

I’m notorious for this. Not everyone wants to update. I hate the modern iOS look. iOS 6 look was classic and so visually appealing. Apple should allow iPhone 5 users to remain on iOS 6 and enjoy that classic iconic look.

Can someone with iPhone 5 & iOS 6 actually confirm if they can no longer use the phone in that version?
