iPhone 6 Plus, Safari in Landscape, can you hide bookmarks ?

As per the title, is there a way to switch the bookmarks off ?. It seems like a waste of real estate to not be able to benefit from the extra space ?

Found the answer when other posts came up at bottom that didn't show up in search. Just toggle the bookmarks button in that view and it goes away

Iphone 6 Safari landscape issue

If you turn your phone to landscape while in Safari the bookmarks list may appear. Look for the bookmark icon at the top of the page and touch it and the bookmarks on the left will disappear.

Is this a bug or just the way it's supposed to be with having to manually close the bookmarks every time they are opened in landscape?
