iPhone 6(S)/Plus iPhone 6s Plus very hot during personal hotspot?

Hi all,

I have noticed that my iPhone 6s Plus becomes very hot after using personal hotspot over Wi-Fi for an extended period of time, perhaps an hour or so.

Can anyone explain why? The iPhone itself is around two years old now.

The iPhone doesn't display the heat warning, but it does get very warm. Concerned that this could cause long term damage to the iPhone's hardware?

It’s normal for a device to get hot while in hotspot mode because of the constant network traffic.
