How long will this work decently as a phone without being able to get software updates? I've never used a phone that long.

I have a 7 I was going to give to one of my granddaughters for emergency situations and wonder if it would do the job.

It did have a battery replacement within the last year, so it functions well as far as that.

The 6 still gets security updates (iOS 12). Use your 7 (last of the reasonably light and thin phones), and be glad you don't have to "upgrade" to iOS 16.
