Hi there!

Since 1 year ago approx, I'm suffering horrible battery drains. My battery is in 85% of health, but I need to charge my iPhone 2 times in a day, sometimes 3. Horrible.

I've left the phone without being charged this night and, as you can see, more than 25% battery drain with NOTHING in the background.

Everything is turned off (location, wifi, updates, etc.). My battery dies with less than 2 hours of use on a daily basis.

Nothing special with iOS 14, suffering it from iOS12.

Should I replace the battery? Went to an Apple Store looking for a battery replacement and the technical guys said to me that a default reset without restoring from iCloud would solve the problem. Not at all.

I had the same issue with iPhone 7 after 2 years of intensive use I got 83% battery health (Pokemon GO at the time and lot of GPS didn't help).
I managed to get my battery replaced for free in my Apple Store in Paris, and it was a night and day difference.

It's very likely just battery issue like mine 2 years ago.

I opened an issue to Apple asking them to validate that it was a battery issue, and they did want to replace me the battery (neither paying). Pathetic support!

If you are sure that it's the battery (most likely tbh) and if your warranty is expired (2 years in EU), you can just go to any Apple Store and pay €55 to get your battery replaced by a new one on a Apple Store. Just be sure to book it online/phone before going to the store.
It took me about 10 min before my phone was ready.

If you want to hold your 8 for let's say at least 1 or 2 year it's definitely worth it. If you want to change your phone soon, I would advise to just use it with no new battery until you change the phone.

I had the battery replaced at 88% in my iPhone 8 a couple months ago. My battery life before the replacement was much better than yours is, but still the replacement was the best $49 I've spent in a long time! Quick and painless at the Apple Store. If you like the phone otherwise, do it! It will seem like a new phone.

From what I've gathered on numerous threads here on MR is that when the battery health app says mid eighties or lower, the battery is toast.
85% doesn't mean 85%. It means the battery is approaching death

On my iPhone 8 the health app said it had 89% left. However, Coconut battery measured only 83% and tbh my iPhone was pretty much unusable for anything more then just being standby. Any time I would use the screen, the battery % would drop like a stone. It would sometimes lose 20 or 30% power in a matter of minutes. Mind you, this was after using this phone for just 23 months. Last week I was so fed up with it that I gave in and bought a new 11 Pro and be done with It. Could not cope with the thought of using it another month or whatever while waiting for the iPhone 12.

Now the positive thing about this is that I still have warranty on the iPhone 8 (24 month due to Dutch law) so they will have to replace the battery free of charge...

I replaced the battery yesterday. Charged up to 80% from 20%. I left the iPhone without being charged this night to see drain battery results. It's pretty similar to before so... very disappointed.

Maybe the battery needs some time to "be balanced" or something like that. Let me show you some screenshots:

Now the phone is being charged. I will wait until 100% and this night I will shut down the phone and charge it during the night so I might calibrate the battery.

That is very weird.
Are you sure there nothing that is constantly running in the background ?
It can be a third-party app very poorly optimised with iOS 14 for instance

I'm 100% sure there is nothing in the background.

And there is nothing related to iOS 14. In fact as I said, I'm getting this results since iOS 12

Humm bad news.
Do you feel some heat on your phone for average tasks ?
I am suspecting you have a component a bit defective that consume more power than expected (A11 ? GPS ? Antenna ?). But this need some expertise to be sure.
Do you have great cellular cover ? Being in poorly covered 3G/4G area increase power consumption.

Nothing special. No heat, good coverture overall.

I think I'm gonna leave Apple's universe if this is not solved after battery replacement
