A1905 does not support CDMA. At least in the US, that definitely isn't the SIM-Free version.

My Sim-Free iPhone 8 Plus was bought from an Apple Store in Michigan (USA). The model is A1864.

The Sim-Free iPhone 8 is model A1863

Maybe this isn’t what you’re looking for, but if you google sim-free iPhone 8, the Apple website will come up and show you what models (including the S-F) pertain to which bands and carriers. I looked earlier myself.

A1905 is gsm only.

A1864 is the verizon/Sprint/China/gsm universal version. I asked this same question during preorder. It's the sim free version apple sales.

Models A1905 and A1897 do not support CDMA networks, such as those used by Verizon and Sprint. FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4 , 5, 7, 8, ..

The 4.7 inch A1905 is gsm only

The 5.5 inch A1897 is gsm only

The 4.7 inchA1863 is cdma/gsm (sim free)

The 5.5 inch A1864 is cdma/gsm (sim free)

Yes. Apple doesn't do a good job since the gsm only model have Intel chips while the cdma/gsm model have Qualcomm chips

To make it worst. People like me annoyed with 2016 iphone 7 launch who paid full price and they didn't sell a sim free version for 3_4 weeks and they would sell me the Verizon version of the iPhone 7 plus since I was att customer even when paying full price.
