iPhone and Bose SoundDock alarm question

I was wanting to get a dock/alarm clock to put my iPhone into but the sound quality is so terrible on all of them I think I'm going to be forced into spending the extra money for the Bose SoundDock. My question is, if I use the iPhone's alarm clock feature will the alarm sound through the SoundDock speakers or still only the small speakers on the bottom of the iPhone itself?

I've just tried it with the Bose SoundDock Portable and the sound came out of the Bose speaker system.

I have the Soundock II, it's awesome. I only wish it had a volume meter so I knew how loud it was set for.

There have been times when I crank my music and forget, then at night set my Iphone on it and the next morning I awake to the loudest alarm clock on the block.
