I am able to take pictures with the iPhone camera, but when i want to view the photo in the camera roll, all i see is one grey outlined square where the photo should be. when i tap it, i just get sent back to the home screen. i restored the phone 2 times, and its still the same problem. any ideas on what to do? note: this iPhone has never been hacked.

Don't usually bring up topics so old, but I have this same issue. I'm debating just not having a camera for 2.0 software to fix it so I can keep my data. Any quick fixes or anything known yet?

Well, update - after a restore, it works fine, but after I updated from a backup, the glitch was back. I don't know anything else about it. Can't find out any solutions.

The glitch maybe stemming from a mail attachment or a freek problem with a song from iTunes.

I actually take that back. I may have found a solution at the following link:

I'll report back on how it works out in a bit, I'm restoring iPhone right now.

---------------
Yup, it works. Hallelujah. I didn't delete the photo I took, and to assure it stays, I'll always keep at least one photo in my Camera Roll until the 2.0 software comes out.

----------------
Temporarily, it seems. Any new pictures I take still have the mysterious shadow box.
