iPhone 12 Pro iPhone does not back up on iCloud via mobile data

Hey all,

So I have my iPhone 12 Pro and wish for it to back up using mobile data. I have an unlimited data plan.

I have 5G coverage. I have the data mode switched to allow more data on 5G. I have the toggle switched on next to back up over mobile data.

However it’s not automatically backing up. Any idea why? Or what’s going on?

It may not automatically back up over 5G cellular (not sure). Maybe a 5G backup has to be initiated manually.

Thanks for the reply. I think the below is misleading where it says you can use your mobile network to backup automatically.

Huh! You're right. That contradicts Apple's support document. I don't know what to make of that.

Seems like automatic backups (and many other automatic things in iOS) are only initiated when you are not using your phone for a certain period of time, screen locked, and the phone is charging at certain level.
