My iPhone 6s+'s accelerometer hasn't worked in over a month (even with the latest iOS updates):
  • Camera won't rotate
  • Apps that open upside down
  • Compass and level did nothing
  • GPS doesn't work
Last night I backed it up to my iMac then wiped it. I've been adding apps, etc. back in one-by-one. (I wiped it before then restored, but got the same problems back after a day or two).

My theory is that there must be an app that is messing with iOS and crippling it. But, I have no idea which one - or whether doing a full restore and deleting apps would solve the problem.

Has anyone experienced this before?
If so, were there any Apple apps that may have contributed to the issue?
What about third-party apps that could've caused a conflict?
And if not an app, then what could be causing this?

Doing a manual restore is a massive pain.

Oh that sounds like a painful experience. However with the way apps are sandboxed in iOS I find it hard to believe that the issue comes from an app.
Maybe more a corrupt file in the operating system that causes that to happen.

Anyways glad you have it working again!

The OS and hardware is not infallible. Every CPU/SOC has a long list of "errata" built permanently into the chip. Essentially they're hardware bugs that exist forever. It wouldn't be surprising at all if something on your iPhone wasn't working perfectly.
