Anybody else's battery charging pattern look like this?

Loads of little inconsistent charges rather than one continuous green lozenge.
This is from my iPhone 13 Pro while connected to a Magsafe charger and 20W charging brick - have tried with the included USB-C to lightning cable an 18W and 12W adapter and with different cables and get the same issue. Only way I can get a continuous charge is with my old 5W brick and USB-A to Lightning.
Because of this inconsistent pattern the phone never learns charging habits so optimized charging never kicks in - unless i use the 5W adapter for a few weeks.
To me it looks like something is overheating with anything over the 5W adapter, then pausing charging until temps have dropped then starts up again.
