Hi, thanks for reading my post!

Backstory and info:

My brother found an iPhone 5 in the recycling bin. It looks in very good shape.

I tried to charge it. It starts up and I see the Welcome Screen a.k.a. the "Hello" screen.

I know the screen functions because I can swipe and quick the little info button.

I'm requested to "Press Home to Open" - Here's where the party ends: The Home button doesn't function.

My question:

Is there a way to access the Touchscreen Home Button from the Welcome Screen? Or is my only shot at making this iPhone functional again to repair the home button?

Thanks for your help and suggestions!
