iPhone Xs doesn't mount in iTunes

A few weeks back, my iPhone Xs stopped mounting in iTunes 12.8.2.3 on MacOS 10.13.6. However, it shows up properly in Image Capture and I get the 'Trust this computer' dialogue box on the iPhone when I connect it. Any ideas?

Just for anyone else having the same issue, I solved it by running the "MobileDeviceUpdater.app" located in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/Current/Resources.
