iPod iPod 3rd gen universal dock compatibility

I'm trying to find a dock to nicely display my 3rd gen iPod, but having a little trouble figuring out which one to get.

It seems the A1153 model should be compatible (see attached image). From the text on the box it seems that this dock doesn't require an inset to fit the 3rd gen iPod ("also works with" vs "includes adapters for"). Does anyone know if that's indeed the case, or does it require an inset that is just not included?

Yes that's exactly the model I was eying, but my question is if the 3rd gen iPod will fit properly without an inset?

I thought the A1153 was the iPod reference.....😜

Searching on the Apple forums I came across a thread which mentioned it would only charge by FireWire (original design).

This maybe something to keep in mind, if you have a modern Mac.

Keep in mind you'll need a firewire-30 pin charging solution in order to make use of the dock's charging functionality with the third gen iPod

You need to make sure you buy one with the correct dock adapter or at least one that comes with the correct adapter pre installed.

I think the iPod you have is the iPod with colour display? Or its that 4th Gen?

I've since found the answer to my question. In case anyone else is wondering: the universal dock does require an inset for the iPod 3rd gen too. See https://www.reddit.com/r/ipod/comments/um0teg for details. The part numbers are MA117G/A and MA118G/A, depending on the iPod capacity. Was able to find a seller on eBay.
