iPod iPod Classic 5.5g problem

Hello all
I bought recently a iPod classic 5.5g and it keeps freezing randomly. It may play 400 songs without problem and suddenly the buttons won’t respond. Sometimes when I plug my headphones it won’t start playing music although the icon changes normally. When this happens I remove the headphones and I let the display turn off and then it works properly. This happens usually when it’s unused for some hours. I have reset it, I have formatted it, at no avail. I have run the S.M.A.R.T test. What can I do to solve this problem;

can you reformat this in a windows computer using iTunes?
that saved my iPod gen 3 nano 4 times when the MacBook air high sierra could not.

I have a windows pc. I found this thread and did what it suggested but it’s doing the same…

Can anyone help me;

When I had a similar issue replacing the hard drive fixed it. If it were to happen now I'd do a flash storage conversion as the old spinners just aren't worth using anymore
