Is anybody else having trouble with iPods like the Nano 3 staying connected?
I also had to jump through hoops to restore an iPod Classic 5G.

These work fine on older systems.

I would imagine that newer systems would prioritize less compatibility with older devices. Provably best to hang on to your old machines for better syncing.

did you try killing the usb demon after sucessfully connecting the iPod? For various reasons -e.g. a specific cable - USB-connected devices can have problems on Big Sur/Ventura/Monterey.
One solution is to kill usbd after a sucessfully mount of the peripheral on the Mac.
