when i was charging my ipod on the dock, it completely froze the little slashed-out circle doesn't blink and niether does the battery icon. does anyone know what to do?

After posting in the correct forum, the first thing I'd do is reset the iPod by pressing play and menu until you see the apple appear on the display. Resetting fixes almost all odd iPod behavior. Then make sure you've got the latest software on your iPod. Somewhere in your applications --> utilities folder you should have something called "iPod Updater". Run that and it will tell you if your software is up to date.
