irregular slowness in divx encoding dual 2.7?

Hi guys, my first post was hoping to get some feedback on my Dual G5. Been trying to encode 40 minute long .mov quicktime movies into DIVX (Home Theater Profile) using Quicktime Export into DIVX format. It's taking more than 3-4 hours to do each video, which seems a little slow for the specification of my machine.

Input size: 1864mb
Output size: 330mb

Dual 2.7 G5
4 GB ram

any ideas ? thanks in advance !
