Shame really, its dog slow on iOS 7. It could have used some optimisation. IMO they should have just ended support on iOS6

I wouldn't be so sure, every other release has classed the iPad 3 as iPad (Third generation) and has specifically stated that it will support the device.

Of course, only time will tell, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Damn, the iPad 3 really was the bastard child wasn't it?

I cant see any way possible where the iPad 2 and iPad Mini will get iOS 8 and the 3rd generation iPad wont. I believe its classified with the 4th generation iPad.

I feel like if only the 4th gen got it, they would say so.

4S is the "last" device which supports iOS 8.

of course iPad 3 will be supported, it just makes sense logically and they don't need to mention it separately because iPad 4 was released mid tier so all in all iPad 3/4 = iPad with Retina Display
