iPhone XS Is Iphone XS still usb 2.0?

Hi community. I wonder whether the new XS is still connecting with the computer with usb 2.0? If so, that will be a pain to transfer 512 Gb worth of file.

Anyone who has the phone can please answer this? Thank you!

Nope it isn’t 2.0, but you will need one of those USB-C to lightning cables from Apple.

I think since iOS 7 or 8 Apple start encourage everything wireless, so transfer files should be wireless

The Lightning cable supplied most certainly is USB 2.0. I use mine to sync to iTunes to backup my data. The phone itself does support USB-C, but that requires a cable purchased separately.

Just transferred a 4K 60fps video to my computer using the regular USB to lightning cable, definitely USB 2.0, LOL.

So if I get the USB-C to lightning cable, I'd get USB 3.0 tranfer speeds?

I’m not so sure cuz the usb c transfer and a usb a transfer is equally fast on my MacBook. Windows speeds idk.

Tell me about it. I do backups of my devices weekly and it takes ages to do them, just under 1 TB of data I try to keep backed up constantly for my iPhones.

Feeling the same pain over here. Got myself a 512gb storage and damn it's a pain to transfer. Anyway, ordered apple USB-c to lighting cable. Should be a lot better once it get it.

Source? iPad Pro became USB 3 with the introduction of 512GB. I would imagine the XS/Max are the same. That was over a year ago.

The iPad Pro's (only 10.5 and 12.9) have 16 pins in the port for that capability and Apple even discloses that USB 3 speeds only are achieved on those specific models, the 9.7 is excluded because it and all other lightning devices still only have 8 pins. Also the iPad Pro's, 10.5 and 12.9 only, were specifically called out to have USB-C controllers that allowed them USB 3.0 function and those have not appeared yet in any iPhone. There are postings around that have confirmed that when connected with the Lightning to USB-C cable, the iPhone's still only report back USB 2.0 speeds.

My guess is that the USB 3 relies upon the specific controller and 16 pins in combination, which currently no devices have besides the 10.5 and 12.9 iPad Pro's.

I read that Apple's current iPhone 7 lightning port may have transfer speeds up to 480 megabits per second. Apple doesn't post their speeds. So anyone here claiming otherwise is only speculating. Just like me.

BTW, 480 mbps is about USB 2 speeds.

But Apple is more innovative and was ahead of the competition. Right?
